Hi Bárbara, how are you? We know that the day is being very intense. In GBCOM 64 you have a full agenda with advanced dental services and we also know that this month, in GBCOM 45, you are developing major oral and maxillofacial surgeries.

Thank you very much for attending us!

Hello, thank you very much for showing interest in me. I am fascinated by communication and with actions like this, GBCOM demonstrates that it is going further in the provision of sanitary services on our wonderful Balearic island, Palma de Mallorca.

Let’s start! As a nursing assistant, what is your main clinical work?

First of all, we must know that the figure of a nursing assistant is mainly a hospital figure. GBCOM does not obey the usual pattern of the dental clinic, so it integrates professionals with this profile.

GBCOM nursing assistants work hand in hand with the directors, Dr. Miguel Àngel Morey and Dr. Jorge Maubet who are great oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

Maxillofacial surgery approaches pathologies of tumor, traumatic origin and also those conditions caused by aging or degeneration.

Therefore, many of the interventions in which I attend are carried out on patients who require our participation in their care before and after the intervention, and we also provide more routine accompaniment.

I also offer assistance to dentists in the development of all their treatments.

I like to think that my work is important and that it greatly influences the good development and final success of the treatments developed by the medical team.

Can you tell us a little bit about your interests?

Being a good professional in my work and as I mentioned before, providing excellent assistance to patients and the medical team.

If you allow me the audacity, I know what the next question is!

Do not tell me!

Yes (Barbara blushes). That is why I brought my favorite book “Fish in a tree” to this interview.

Might be “Like a fish in the water”?

The cover is not written like that.

Right. Please, can you tell me the plot of this original title?

Albert Einstein was dyslexic. Did you know?

I did not know of it.

There is a phrase from him that summarizes very well the reason for this publication.

“We are all geniuses. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb trees, it will spend its entire life feeling stupid. ”

I love Lynda Mullaly Hunt’s treatment of dyslexia.

How interesting, Barbara. I think a fish would not like to visit the top of a tree. Do you have a favorite destination?

I am not very demanding. Anywhere where you can breathe tranquility and peace. It could be the top of a tree or a beautiful Mallorcan Cove.

¿Esmeralda Cove, D’Or Cove?

I preferred Na Clara cove, situated in Artà. Yes GBCOM is a dentist clinic situated in Palma de Mallorca paradise, the paradise of Cala Na Clara is an hour away by car, to the east of the island of Mallorca.

It is a virgin cove with sand and rocks, its name refers to the special transparency of its waters.

What do you give more importance to in life?

Family, with no doubt.

What a good combination of Cala Na Clara and family!

Of course but we would be missing a good book.

What is your passion?

My daughters, my husband and also my parents.

Do you have any hobbies?

With my daughters we do crafts, we love to take advantage of discarded materials and use them again, and I also love sewing, embroidery, and painting.

What did you want to be as a child?

My job as a nursing assistant is not a coincidence, it is the result of my vocation. I feel fulfilled by assisting and caring for others.

What is the main message you want to transmit to your patients?

The importance of prevention and good hygiene and food habits.

There is certainly no better way to prevent major diseases. Having a balanced diet and correct oral and body hygiene habits is very important to avoid possible problems in the future.

Do you think that topics as important as hygiene are still unknown?

Unfortunately, what you are talking about is not a personal belief, it is a reality.

Every day we have first visits from patients with treatments that have failed because of their neglect. It is then that I realize the important role we play as health educators and communicators.

This is something that we regularly discuss at team meetings and our commitment is that all our patients are highly knowledgeable about their health.

We want to transform all unhealthy habits and guidelines. That is the only way to improve health and achieve wellness.

Do you achieve your goal?

I’m brave (Bárbara nods confidently). I dare say we did.

We put a lot of effort and apply communication techniques that give very good results.

Last question. What is your main professional motivation?

The desire to learn is my main personal and professional motivation.

I think the day I stop learning will be the day I have lost my motivation and without that motivation, I would not be able to provide excellent healthcare.

Bárbara, thank you very much for your time and kindness. I hope you have a good day!

Thank you very much. A big hug!
